It’s a moderate hike, nothing too strenuous, easily accessible and with jaw dropping views of snow-capped peaks. Sounds exciting? Then the trek to Nag Tibba is the perfect family getaway that you have been looking for.

Nag Tibba is more of a long weekend outing, so you don’t really need too many days off. The start and end point are easily accessible, located close to Dehradun, which is well connected to the rest of the country. The trail which starts from Pantwari ,has a gradual incline, with only a few steep patches, so the trek is suitable for anyone with an average fitness level. For the kids, it would be a breeze.

( It’s hard not to have a grin on your face when you are in a place as pretty as this )

( The perfect campsite to absorb the beauty of nature and just disconnect from the world )

The journey starts from Dehradun and after a drive of about 3 hours, you will reach Pantwari .The hike to Nag Tibba starts from Pantwari with Thath acting as the base camp for the trek. Camping in Thath, in the company of an odd shepherd and his cattle of sheep on undulating meadows will make you feel like you are living a life straight from the storybooks.

The trek from Thath to Nag Tibba summit takes around 4-5 hours. You will walk through thick jungles with the forest floor draped in white and yellow flowers. In a short span of time, you will reach an altitude of 3000 metres (10000 feet) and come face to face with Himalayan giants like Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Srikanth and Black peak. And all of this with just a day of trekking!

You don’t have to worry about acclimatization as the descent back to Thath can be done the same day. Spend the night in the heavenly meadows and the next day, you can descend from Thath to Pantwari.

So if you are looking for a place to escape the crowds, want the company of nature and a dose of adventure in your next family trip, pack your bags and hiking shoes to Nag Tibba.
