ABOUT OUR TRIPS
All our family trips are designed keeping in mind the specific needs and & constraints that an average family experiences on an outdoor trip. We as a company believe that a more than comfortable accommodation, at the end of the day, tasty/nutritious food, exciting activities and great locations are the essentials for a memorable outdoor trip. It is our endeavour to give families a safe and an up, close & personal experience in the Indian Himalayas.
Lodge & Luxury Camp Based Trips
GIO's family Adventures trips are all designed around the Himalayan Eco-Lodge Network. With distances between the lodges not more than half a day and yet transport you to completely different landscape, a trip designed around the lodges allow for a quintessential Himalayan Experience. All our lodges are complete with all creature comforts that allow the family to rest and re-energise for the next day's experiences.
We also offer a wilderness experience for families (those interested) where for one night they can experience camping out on their own. On such occasions we use the best quality 3/4 season expedition tents (Mountain Hardwear, Black Diamond or similar) and warm sleeping bags. We carry a mess tent which becomes a place for everyone to sit together and enjoy a meal or have a conversation and additional comforts like camping stools, tables and hurricane lamps are provided. A makeshift toilet is put up at these campsites for those who are Equal emphasis is given on choosing these campsites and they are usually pitched at unique locations for the clients to have the most memorable experience.

Meals:
We decide the menu keeping in mind the profile of our guests with special care being taken of the young travellers on board. Our meals are normally a mix of Indian, local, Chinese and Continental cuisines.
Activities:
A special feature on our trips is that one can decide the mix of activities that the family or individual members of the family would like to indulge in. These range from Sightseeing trips, Walks, Hikes, Village Visits & interactions to a wide variety of adventure activities. Apart from the above, our lodges and camps are smack in the middle of some of the most revered and ancient temples and shrines of India and therefore spiritual trips can also be included to complete your Himalayan Experience.
Transfers:
All our itineraries provide for road transfers from the start point of the trip. This is usually a main town/city like Haridwar, Dehradun, Chandigarh, Leh, etc. All these places are well connected to all parts of India by rail/air/road. If you require we could make the travel arrangements by your preferred mode to the start point of the trip and on your return at the end of the trip.

Unique Transport Solutions:
We understand that transport costs can be substantial if one wants to hire vehicles for the holiday especially on longer duration holidays. GIO has developed a few options that could significantly reduce your travel costs thereby allowing you to stretch your budget and spend more time with us. These options can represent a cost reduction of atleast 15 Percent if not more.
- You could drive your own vehicle to the first camp/lodge and then we could arrange local transport options for all the day trips from that location, which would come at a fraction of the cost of hiring a full blown luxury vehicle which has to come from Dehradun/Haridwar or the likes. Also, the local person is the most well versed with the roads, can provide insights into the community and region from a local perspective.
- If you are travelling by train then an Innova/Xylo can drop you the first Camp/Lodge and come back only to pick you up from last location. All the local trips can be done as suggested earlier.
Guides/Escorts:
Some of our trips are of the nature where one would need an escort or guide for the full or some part of the trip. All our mountain guides, river guides, biking guides & escorts hail from different parts of the Himalayas and have undergone professional training courses in their respective fields. They are well versed with the local culture and sure of the routes. They are always forthcoming with interesting lore and information on local history, culture and practices and are always willing to lend a helping hand if one were in any uncomfortable.
